The business environment of the Asia-Pacific region is changing quickly due to the growth of
“ 尔“ ”你“ ”您“
Tips: “ 尔“ ”你“ ”您“ means “ you”
Mini: Min,How can I use all these words properly?
Min: Well, you use these three words in slightly different situations. You use “ 尔“ er3, when the other person’s social position is lower than yours. You use ”你“ ni3, when the social positions are equal. A boy or girl can call their classmate “ 你“。“您“ nin2, Mini, can you recognize the bottom part of this word?
Mini: Yes, I do. That part means the heart “心 xin1”. This “you” (您nin2) might be used with people who I should show respect. Eg: If I meet Min in the morning, I should say: 您早!老师。 If I meet my classmate Robert, I should say: 你早!同学。
Min: Well done!
